Our Leadership
CEO & PRESIDENT – LEO SMITH
Leo Smith has more than 25 years of experience in banking, 15 of those
years in credit unions. After a 4-year stint in the Army he started
his career in finance at Bank of America as an auditor, then moved
to Charter Bank of London as an auditor. His career took a turn when
he became Senior Financial Analyst at Crocker National Bank, which
merged with Wells Fargo. He continued with his career at banks for
another 10 years until 1991 when he turned to credit unions and became
Controller at ILWU-FSC Federal Credit Union, and eventually became
CEO of their credit union. In 1998 he became CEO of Bay Media Federal
Credit Union, where he implemented upgrades of internal systems and
added a variety of services to the members. Leo has a BA in World Business/Accounting and a MBA in International
Finance/Accounting, both from San Francisco State University.
BOARD CHAIR – ROSS HAWKINS
Ross Hawkins had been with the San Francisco Chronicle for over 19 years. He is on the Board of Directors of California Credit Managers Association (CMA). His wealth of experience in finance and credit collections is a great asset to Bay Media, where he is Chairman of the Board of Directors, a volunteer position.
