| For Parents Teaching Kids About Finances One of the most responsible things a parent, teacher or caregiver can do for young people is to help them understand about the world of personal finance - its benefits and its pitfalls. Once children get some idea of what money can buy, it’s important that they learn the responsibility that comes with earning, handling, and especially needing money. Bay Media Federal Credit Union can help with the practical ends of this education. We can show your youngsters how money can make money, the different reasons for investing and when/why to use a particular product, and a little about the meaning of credit. But there are some things a financial institution just wasn't created to do, like child psychology. But we do know that there are places to go to find information that can help you communicate to the young person in your life about money. A strong resource for parents is the book 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad', by Robert Kiyosaki & Sharon L. Lechter, CPA. The Family Education Network operates a Web site entirely devoted to helping parents communicate to their kids about life issues such as Money. Their money area can be accessed by clicking here.
